QRU? Chance Konnor

Freshman Chance Konnor won 1st place in the school science fair.



What was your first reaction when you realized that you won and were chosen to go on to regionals?



I was just in shock. I heard them say my name and I froze. I had been joking with my friends about when they called me as a winner, but never thought they actually would. Still, I’m excited to go on to the regionals. It makes me feel as if all my work has paid off.



What was your project and why did you choose that?

My experiment was based on baseball. I tested whether a bat filled with super balls, or a normal wooden bat, could hit the ball further upon impact. I did something related to baseball because that’s how I kept myself interested. If I did a boring project, I would have gone off topic and been bored with it.



Do you think that you deserve to go to regionals?

It’s hard to answer that question because I can’t judge whether other students may have deserved it more. However, I think I do, since I did a lot of work on the project to get to this point. Also, I did something interesting and creative instead of doing one of the typical plant projects.
